Ratchet them up!
Rick Ankiel (OF, Cardinals):
“Wild Pitch”. Ankiel has been reborn as outfielder with a fair bit of power. He hit a 3 run homer in his first game after being called up and he could be a nice pickup if you are willing to deal with a low average.
Rickie Weeks (2B, Brewers):
Will be called back up to the big team. He probably won’t be more effective than he was when the team sent him down since the chronic wrist problem hasn’t gotten much time to heal.
Milton Bradley (OF, Padres):
Is likely to return to the Padres lineup (and the cleanup spot) early in the week. Get him back into your lineup if you’d usually play him.
Carlos Beltran (OF, Mets):
Returned from the DL and hit a three run homer in his return. Thats good news for Mets fans and fantasy owners.
Marcus Thames (OF, Tigers):
Returned from the DL and should be back in the Tiger’s lineup for next week.
Justin Upton (OF, Diamondbacks):
If you didn’t pay attention to the recommendation last week take a look at this kid’s numbers. His upside is beyond huge.
Eddie Guardado (RP, Reds):
Is back from the DL and might well be the closer by the end of the week.
Scott Podsednik (OF, White Sox):
There are rumors that Podsednik will be a Cub by Monday. If that’s true then his value goes up - at least until Alfonso Soriano returns.
Ratchet them down!
Alfonso Soriano (OF, Cubs):
Will miss at least a month with a strained quadricep muscle. This is a major blow for Soriano’s owners.
John Maine (SP, Mets):
Has struggled too much in his last few starts for it to be shaken off as a minor concern. He might need a little rest and can’t be considered as reliable a starter as he was previously.
Roger Clemens (SP, Yankees):
Was suspended for 5 games for intentionally hitting Alex Rios with a pitch and will may only get one start next week.
Richie Sexson (1B, Mariners):
Was demoted into a platoon situation with Ben Broussard.
Scott Spiezio (IF, Cardinals):
Has entered a substance abuse program and will miss a bit of time - he shouldn’t have been in your lineup anyway.
Scott Hairston (OF, Diamondbacks):
Strained a muscle, probably an oblique while trying to stretch a single into a double. He’s certainly DL bound.
Jason Hirsh (SP, Rockies):
Had his leg broken by a line drive on Tuesday. He’ll miss several weeks.
Jerry Hairston (Util, Rangers):
Was placed on the DL with a sore back.
Travis Hafner (1B, Indians):
Hurt his left knee on Tuesday and was quote saying he’s been unable to run. There is a good chance that he’ll undergo an MRI and miss more time.
Tony Graffanino (IF, Brewers):
Is done for the season after tearing a ligament in his knee.
Marlon Anderson (OF, Mets):
Strained a wrist while trying to make a diving catch on Thursday - he’ll probably miss some time.
David Wells (SP, Padres):
Was designated for assignment by the Padres. They are cutting ties with the erratic lefty and will try to trade him or release him before the week ends.
Dave Roberts (OF, Giants):
Recieved contusions to both knees in a collision with a catcher on Thursday. That’s never good news for a player who’s only fantasy value is the ability to steal bases.
Carlos Beltran (OF, Mets):
Is likely to be out another week.
Mike Maroth (SP, Cardinals):
Was placed on the 15 day DL and will miss all of next week.
Eric Chavez (3B, A’s):
Was diagnosed with a bulging disc in his back. this is really bad news for Chavez owners - expect him to miss at least two weeks but be prepared for him to miss more time.
Ryan Freel (Util, Reds):
is done for the season.
Octavio Dotel (RP, Braves):
Sprained his shoulder and was placed on the 15 day DL.
Casey Fossum (SP, D’Rays):
Was released by the D’Rays on Friday.
