Ratchet them up!

Gary Sheffield (OF, Tigers):  Returned from the DL and picked up the entire Tigers offense.  So long as the shoulder doesn’t go numb again (which might mean a spinal issue) he should be a solid fantasy producer the rest of the way.

Kenny Rogers (SP, Tigers):  Returned from the DL.

Pedro Martinez (SP, Mets):  Returned to the big team after an absence of almost a year and pitched well in his debut.  He could be a little shakey at times but he’s still Pedro - which makes him better than 75% of the pitchers out there.

Orlando Hernandez (SP, Mets):  Is likely to be return to the Mets rotation after a foot injury sidelined him for a while.

Esteban Loaiza (SP, Dodgers):  Expect a solid week from Loaiza as he faces batters unfamilliar with his stuff.  It won’t be so easy a second time around but for now he’s worth bumping up a notch.

Carlos Gomez (OF, Mets):  Was recalled from the DL and might be a worthwhile pick up over the next week or two as the Mets are going to start resting their regulars for the playoffs in the next week or two.

Bob Wickman (RP, Diamondbacks):  Was signed by the D’Back after being released by the Braves.  If the D’Backs can grow the Western division lead  its possible that he might even see a save chance or two as the D’Backs rest regulars for the playoffs.  He’s still a highly speculative pick up.

Jermaine Dye (OF, White Sox):  Should be ready to roll for next week.

Joe Mauer (C, Twins):  Rumors are circulating that the Twins might shut him down for the season but in fact he’s likely to be back sometimes this week.

Travis Hafner (1B, Indians):  Seems to have found his stroke again.  He’s been hititng over .300 the last two weeks.

Chone Figgins (UTIl, Angels):  Is back with the Angels, get him back in your lineup if you are looking for steals.

Shawn Green (1B/OF, Mets):  Will get more playing time with Carlos Delgado on the DL.

Ratchet them down!

Manny Ramirez (OF, Red Sox):  Should eb back this week but don’t be shocked if the Red Sox give him extra time to heal witht he playoffs coming up.

Vladimir Guerrro (OF, Angels):  Could miss a few games this week as he recovers from a triceps strain.

Carlos Delgado (1B, Mets):  Will miss most if not all of the upcoming week with a strained right hip flexor tendon.

Rick Ankiel (OF, Cards): Ankiel had a terrific week last night but that was before his name came up in a probe of players using HGH.  MLB officials want to talk to him about it.  Between the pressure of that, media scrutiny and an ongoing investigation he’s likely to be a little distracted.

Troy Glaus (SS/3B, Blue Jays):  Is also under investigation for recieveing performance enhancing steroids and has reportedly also been named as someone MLB officials want to talk to.  It might be enough to get under his skin.

Carl Crawford (OF, Devil Rays):  Is appealing a two game suspension for arguing with an umpire, and could miss time this week.

Roger Clemens (SP, Yankees):  Has a strained elbow and could miss a start or two.

B.J. Upton (2B/3B, Devil Rays):  Fouled a pitch off his foot late last week and may need a few days to recover.

Milton Bradley (OF, Padres):  Has a slight oblique strain and his return is up in the air.  Either way expect part time availability at most for next week.

Scott Rolen (3B, Cardinals):  Is undergoing surgery on his ailing left shoulder and will miss the rest of the season.

Orlando Hudson (2B, Diamondbacks):  May be done for the season, but he’s done enough - at least for this week.  Bench him or cut him.

Cole Hamels (SP, Phillies):  Might get a start at the end of next week but don’t count on it.

Noah Lowry (SP, Giants):  will miss this week and probably the rest of the season because of a strained elbow.  Cut him.

Kip Wells (SP, Cardinals):  Has lost his starting job and will be relegated to the bullpen.  Cut him.

Erik Beddard (SP, Orioles):  Is likely to be shut down for the rest of the season rather than risk a more serious injury and since the O’s are playing for nothing.
