At the top three hitters parks
Citizens Bank Park (Phillies): 4 V. Reds
Great American Ballpark (Reds): No games
Coors Field (Rockies): 3 v. Brewers
At the top three pitchers parks
PETCO park (Padres): 3 v. Cubs, 4 v. Mets
Metrodome (Twins): 1 v. Yankees, 3 v. Orioles
AT & T Park: 3. v. Mets
Ratchet Them Up:
Pedro Martinez (SP, Mets):
Will return this week from the DL and based on his minor league starts he is ready to be plugged back into any rotation. He reached the low 90s during his rehab starts.
Jay Bruce (OF, Reds):
You’d pretty much have to have been dead not to know that the Reds called up their number one prospect Jay Bruce this week. He is an offensive machine going 8 for 14 with 5 runs, 3 RBIs and 2 SB in just 4 games.
Lyle Overbay (1B, Blue Jays):
May finally have recovered from the broken wrist which sidelined him last year. He’s 10 for 23 over the last several games and has shown some power too.
Eric Chavez (3B, A’s):
Is finally back from the DL and could provide some power from the hot corner for those who need it. Watch for any news concerning his back.
Joba Chamberlain (SP/RP, Yankees):
Will get moved into the rotation - getting his first start on Tuesday and a second start on Sunday.
Ryan Doumit (C/OF, Pirates):
Is expected to rejoin the team this week.
Jorge Posada (C, Yankees):
Could be activated this week. His shoulder problems should not affect his offense.
Wandy Rodriguez (SP, Astros):
Returned from the DL and should be started at home (where his numbers are just tremendous) by anyone who owns him.
Ratchet Them Down:
Dasuke Matsuzaka (SP, Red Sox):
Was placed on the 15 day DL with a strained rotator cuff.
Chone Figgins (2B, Angels):
Was placed back onto the DL due to hamstring issues.
David Ortiz (1B/DH, Red Sox):
Strained his wrist on Saturday. This could cost him some time and will definitely cut into his power.
Jason Jennings (SP, Rangers):
Will miss the rest of the season after undergoing tendon surgery.
Taylor Buchholz (SP, Red Sox):
Was sent down by the Red Sox in order to keep his inning counts down. He’ll be back at sometime, but it might be weeks, or even months.
Shawn Estes (P, Padres):
Was placed on the DL with a broken thumb. As if you needed another reason not to own him.....
Ryan Zimmerman (3B, Nationals):
Will be reactivated but still has significant pain in his shoulder. That should take a lot out of his swing, and his fantasy value.
Eric Byrnes (OF, Diamondbacks):
Has bilateral strains in his hamstrings and will miss at least several weeks, but it could be much more. His offensive production was down far as of late, so DL stint will be good for him.
Richie Sexson (1B, Mariners):
Appears to have lost his job and been relegated to bench duties. Amazing how a batting average below .200 and an inconsistent power stroke can do that to a guy.
Hanley Ramirez (SS, Marlins):
Injured his thumb and is likely to miss several games this week.
Dan Ortmeier (1B/OF, Giants):
Was placed on the DL with a broken middle finger. He was hitting like a powerless Richie Sexson anyway.
Luis Castillo (2B, Mets):
Strained his left hip flexor and will probably miss time this week and may end up on the DL.
Frank Thomas (DH, A’s):
Was placed on the DL with tightness in his right quad.
Travis Hafner (1B/DH, Indians):
Was placed on the 15 day DL with a sore right shoulder.
Chris Duncan (OF, Cardinals):
Was demoted to AAA.
Troy Percival (CL, Rays):
Was placed on the 15 day DL with a hamstring strain.
Matt Diaz (OF, Braves):
Will miss at lest a month with a torn ligament in his knee.
Ian Kennedy (SP, Yankees):
Was placed on the DL with a strained muscle in his rib cage.
Gary Sheffield (DH/OF, Tigers):
Was placed on the DL.
