Projected Two Start Pitchers for this Week
Suggested:
You Make the Call:
Other Two Start Pitchers:
At the top three hitters parks
At the top three pitchers parks
Troy Tulowitzki (SS, Rockies): Should be back in the lineup on Monday. Hopefully he won’t be shattering any more bats on the ground. Richie Sexson (1B, Yankees): Will get some at bats with the Yankees Bobby Crosby (SS, A’s): Has been reactivated from the DL. Jonathan Broxton (CL, Dodgers): Will take over as the Dodgers closer for at least six weeks, possibly the rest of the season. HOWEVER - the Dodgers feel that Broxton needs a fair bit of rest so there will be other save chances for Joe Beimel and Hong-Chih Kuo. Hank Blalock (3B, Rangers): Is finally back from the DL and returned surprisingly to third base. He’s still got some value but his power numbers are a limiting factor. Johnny Estrada (C, Nationals): Returned from the DL, but won’t see a lot of at bats. Bobby Jenks (CL, White Sox): Returned from the DL and regained the closer role. Al Reyes (RP, Tampa Bay): Was reactivated and could find himself in the closer mix if Troy Percival doesn’t come back, or gets injured again. Joe Blanton (SP, Phillies): Was traded from Oakland to the Phillies and should tremendously benefit from the offensive support. Pitching in Citizens Bank Park could be interesting though. Tony Clark (1B, Diamondbacks): Was traded from San Diego to Arizona and will get some starts but will probably mostly pinch hit. Magglio Ordonez (OF, Tigers): Was activated from the DL list. Alfonso Soriano (OF, Cubs): is on target to return from the DL and be activated Thursday. Ryan Zimmerman (3B, Nationals): Should be reactivated next week. Fausto Carmona (SP, Indians): is on pace to return this week, probably late in the week. David Ortiz (1B/DH, Red Sox): Is on pace to return by next weekend. Dave Roberts (OF, Giants): Should be reactivated by the Giants on Wed. If you need steals he’s a cheap option. Dave Bush (SP, Brewers): Has ironically found himself in a platoon situation where he only pitches at home. When he’s there his splits are an astounding 2.50 with 41 Ks in 61 innings with a WHIP of less than 1.00 - he’s a no brainer for games at home. Jeff Suppan (SP, Brewers): Is on pace to return from the DL early in the week. Frank Thomas (DH, A’s): Could return from the DL this week.
Erik Beddard (SP, Mariners): is out until at least the trading deadline. Justin Upton (OF, D’backs): Was placed onto the DL with a strained oblique muscle. Jason Giambi (1B/DH, Yankees): Will lose some at bats to the newly acquired Richie Sexson. Takashi Saito (CL, Dodgers): Was placed on the 15 day DL but will miss at least 6 weeks and could be done for the season.  He has a sprained ligament in his right elbow. Hideki Matsui (OF, Yankees): Is likely done for the season. Official word will come early next week. Jerry Hairston Jr (IF/OF): Was placed on the DL with a mildly strained hamstring. He’ll be out the whole week. Aaron Harang (SP, Reds): Was placed on the 15 day DL with a strained right forearm. Kerry Wood (CL, Cubs): Is still day to day with blister problems. He hasn’t pitched in a week. Michael Bourne (OF, Astros): Will lose significant playing time to Darin Erstad who has supplanted him in centerfield. Pedro Martinez (SP, Mets): Is expected to miss at least one start this week.
