The Skinny: Even though the drainage pipes in charge of sewage accidentally drain into a nearby lake, there’s plenty to like about the 2007 Brewers. So many people are hopping on their bandwagon that there isn’t much surprise when an expert predicts them to play deep into October. Can they? It all depends on how healthy Ben Sheets stays and the production they get from their potentially very good lineup.

Strengths: The most apparent strength for the 2007 Brewers is the rotation. Chris Capuano is making huge leaps forward in his development, and the addition of veteran Jeff Suppan should do nothing but help this team. Dave Bush is a great number four starter and is being disrespected in fantasy drafts. From there, Claudio Vargas and a multitude of minor league options can capably handle the fifth slot. Whoops! I forgot to mention that Ben Sheets guy, who could be considered the best starting pitcher in the National League, if healthy.

Offense is another good spot for this team. Rickie Weeks and JJ Hardy are capable top of the order hitters, while Geoff Jenkins, Prince Fielder, and Bill Hall provide plenty of power. The Brewers should not be taken lightly by opposing pitchers, because this team has the chance to pound quite a few opposing teams into submission.

Weaknesses: Bullpens are usually integral parts of any championship club. There are exceptions to the rule, but those are few and far between. Francisco Cordero’s WHIP has always been too high, while Derrick Turnbow -- who does have really cool hair -- is no one’s idea of a legitimate setup man. If Jose Capellan can follow through on his talent, there may be a very good chance next year for this ballclub.

Keys to Success: The 2007 Brewers will go as far as staff ace Ben Sheets takes them. If they get 30+ starts from him, expect this team to win the division. If he’s injured, as has been the norm the previous two seasons, we won’t see much at all from this Cinderella squad. It wouldn’t hurt if several guys stepped up in the bullpen, also.
